About Us - Organizational Structure
Advisors
The director and program coordinator work closely with an advisory council and science advisory council composed of individuals representing key organizations with water resources interests or responsibilities and policy and science-oriented individuals in the state of Iowa. The groups represent the three Regents Universities in Iowa and the Iowa Departments of Natural Resources and Agriculture and Land Stewardship along with federal agencies (e.g., USGS, NRCS, and USEPA) and work with the Center in the following ways:
-
to develop, review and update a strategic plan that sets both short and long term goals that reflect the primary functions of the Center– multidisciplinary research, outreach and education - and to establish priorities for those goals;
-
advise the Center on strategies to best achieve those goals;
- evaluate the IWC’s progress on meeting the strategic plan goals;
-
update the Center and other group members on key water resource issues on the horizon for their specific field of interests;
-
and provide an information conduit back to their respective agencies and stakeholders on the activities of the Center.
