Research Activities
Iowa Water Center
Current Projects
The Center focused the 2008-09 annual research initiative on the examination of nutrient and sediment movement processes and how these materials affect Iowa's surface and ground water. Two critical factors were identified:
- Impact of changing land use and anticipated land use changes on water quality
- Health of Iowa streams and rivers and the impact on quality of water leaving Iowa
- Biomass Harvest and Nutrient Management Systems Impacts on Water Quality. Contact: Antonio Mallarino or Matt Helmers
- Development of Explicit Margin of Safety Methodology for Sediment TMDLs. Contact: Amy Kaleita-Forbes or James Newman
- Urban Resident Education Integrating Investigations of Non-point Source Pollution in Groundwater and Public Perceptions/Technical Understanding. Contact: Mimi Wagner or Bill Simpkins
Past Projects
The Iowa Water Center has funded numerous projects covering a broad range of water-related topics since its establishment in 1964. A complete bibliography by decade is being compiled and will be posted here as completed.
