Dr. Scott Loarie will be delivering the annual Errington lecture this year, which will be held on Thursday 10/16 at 7pm in the Great Hall of the Memorial Union, with reception to follow. Scott Loarie is the Executive Director of iNaturalist, a nonprofit that connects people with nature to drive global conservation. In 2024, Scott received the prestigious Heinz Award for the Environment. He has PhD in environmental science from Duke University and has studied how climate change is reshaping ecosystems worldwide. In 2011, Scott’s growing fascination with the power of technology to scale and decentralize solutions inspired him to leave academia and build iNaturalist — a platform that not only inspires curiosity and discovery but also fuels scientific breakthroughs and conservation action.
If you would like to meet with Dr. Loarie during his visit, please contact Anna Tucker (tuckera@iastate.edu). There are currently time slots available on the morning of Friday 10/17. Please encourage students in your classes to attend.
